OUR STORY
In 2022, during a routine visit to Ghana, our founders Ibrahim Latif and his wife Katharina were deeply moved by what they saw every morning in Sanzerigu: young women and single mothers walking long distances from nearby villages to the city just to learn a trade they could barely afford. Many of them came from farming families that struggled even with daily meals and transport. Because of this hardship, countless women were forced to stay home, their hopes of learning a skill slowly fading.
This passion and resilience inspired a new dream. Ibrahim turned to Katharina and said, “Why don’t we appeal for funds to create a vocational training center right here?” From that moment, the vision for Amaraaba Vocational Training Center was born. With the generous support of donors, land was purchased, and the government building was raised — creating a safe space where women and young mothers can train for free, receive support, and begin to shape their own futures.
Today, Amaraaba VTC is more than a training facility; it is a beacon of hope for Sanzerigu and the surrounding communities. Backed by Amaraaba Ghana e.V. in Germany, the center offers free skills training and accommodation to women and young mothers who otherwise would have been left behind. Our long-term dream is to run the center as an independent institution with its own staff based entirely in Ghana, while continuing to give every woman who walks through our doors the chance to learn a trade, regain confidence, and dream again.
